Cant believe people are able to comment anything conventional, like weird movie, predictable, slow. br> Its just trash beyond belief, sick in all the wrong meanings.

I have to disagree with you, my friend. Its a disturbing piece of cinema for sure, but one of the most original I have ever seen.

I'm a little late in commenting so I'm not sure if you'll notice this but as a cult survivor myself, I appreciate this video and explanation so much. I was born and raised by people who were recruited into the cult so for many years I knew little outside of its parameters of thought. While it was a bible-based cult, the tactics were all the same. At the time of its inception in the 80s, nearly all of the recruits were Gen-X teenagers from dysfunctional and abusive households. It was no wonder people like my parents were so susceptible to believing the cult when they were told how evil the world outside was. Anyone looking in would think we were just another suburban church with a warm and welcoming community with many finding great happiness and love upon joining. They thought they found their happy ending. Until shit would get real. Real fast. By the 90s most of those teens grew up and had families within the cult. Soon the very childhood dysfunction and abuse they sought to escape was reframed as child training to be further perpetuated. The very trauma that compelled them to seek out the cult continued in the next lot of children. The slightest things could be utilised by those in charge to inflict extreme sanctions upon adult and child alike. There were public humiliations, deliverances, relationships forced apart, forced marriage, and excommunications alike. This was no happy ending. Time outside the cult has shown me that while those years were certainly my worst, there's still a lot left to be desired with how things are in the world right now. We need to continue the fight for things like equality, better grassroots communities, healthier communication and emotional expression being championed, a sense of freedom of individuality that allows people to contribute greatly within their communities rather than the selfish individualism so often pushed, and a vigilance that prevents harmful actions being perpetuated in the name of belief. Society's flaws drive vulnerable people into the arms of abusive structures, be it a romantic partner, toxic friendship, or a cult. Continuing such a toxic cycle does not make for a happy ending.

Oh more satanic rituals.

Chistian is just as bad as his girlfriend. change my mind. Little did Christain know, he got an extra virgin bloody Mary. Change the thumbnail pls i am getting creeps everytime i see my subscriptions. In the moment that weird things started happening I would call a priest, especially if I discover that my mother is part of a cult. This is honestly one of the most disturbing movies Ive ever watched or heard of. Dani smiles for the first time after her family's tragedy. And its so beautiful. When the kid hit the pole my friend said I didn't see that coming. Guess he didn't either. And I couldn't stop laughing for the rest of the film.

Yes, the movie is that good. Each scene in the movie, coupled with the cinematography and the sound, grips you, and seamlessly merges into the next.
Without giving anything away, yes, it is a horror/thriller and yes, you may probably get an idea about how all of this is about to end, but prepared to be shocked, rattled and most importantly, impressed by every frame.
The casting is also very well done. The leads are excellent, and each supporting member does their best to add to the overall aura of the rural, isolated Swedish setting.
Definitely one of the best movies I've watched this year. Looking forward to more from the amazing director. I still haven't watched Hereditary, but plan to do so as soon as possible. Kudos to Ari Aster. A SMILE finally breaks onto Danis face. (For some, this smile.

That might not have been my headline had it not been for professional reviews which promise something that never comes. If you go hoping to see carnage you'll be disappointed. Similarly, if you go hoping to get scared, that is about impossible with this slow hypnotic drug-fuelled film. About the only thing it delivers on as far as questionable material is weird sex.
But is it worth seeing as a drama? The acting is generally very good. There are some neat special effects that do capture the psychedelics of the mushrooms very well. The message on the other hand is no more complicated than drugs are bad because they take away your ability to make good choices and to protect yourself, and also, cults are bad. (but there are much better movies about the latter. I think the movie's strongest quality is that it is two and a half hours long with no real suspense and yet never becomes boring.

I watched this movie hiding behind a cow with Jack Daniels.

Hey, let me know what you want me to cover in 2020! Why HEREDITARY Broke Me. Florence Pugh deserves far more recognition that what she got for her performance in this movie. She was amazing. I fell in love with her character in a twisted way after the trauma scene, and by the end I was happy she found peace, despite the fuck up happening everywere else in that moment.
